Quibids Vacation Package Win

The Quibids featured auction of the week was a Disney Vacation package for 4, priced at $4,000. Congratulations to the winner thomasflick!

The winner didn't seem to have put in too many bids. As you can see above, it is just 52 bids! So he spent $31.20 on the bids and won a vacation package worth $4,000. Not bad at all.

The winning strategy again seemed to have been a classic Volunteer's Dilemma for Quibids using the Bid-o-matic. Using bid-o-matic, you can see many more cases of the volunteer's dilemma in many auctions. You should therefore also know how to bid against bid-o=matic.

Just for fun, let us calculate the maximum profit for Quibids in this auction. Of course, you never know because a number of bidders use virtual bids. That being said, in my mind, there shouldn't be a great difference between the two because it isn't like voucher bids are free - you still play and win those through your real bids in most cases. Of course we are also assuming that no one exercised their Buy-Now option which is going to be rare in this kind of an auction in any case.

No. of bids placed = 15,594
Cost per bid = $0.60
Total revenue = 15,594 X 0.60 = $9,356.40
Cost of vacation package = $4000 (could be less for Quibids and most likely will be).
Profit = $5,356.40
That's not bad for a single auction.

Quibids Auction: TRS Ballistic Premium 3 Pc. Luggage Set

Here is a strange Quibids featured auction for you: TRS Ballistic Premium 3 Pc. Luggage Set. Usually, Quibids just sticks to the safer options of electronics or vacation packages, but it is good to see that the site is experimenting with new products. This gives some variety and excitement to penny auctions at Quibids which can seem monotonous and uninteresting in terms of auction types.

Quibids, of course being the largest player in the penny auction market, can experiment with different products because they can more easily absorb any losses.

This product is listed at a price of $2250, so one lucky winner might get it at a far lower price. It would be interesting to see where this auction ends because I think not many people would jump on the auction and it might as well be a calm sub $100 ending auction. Of course penny auction predictions are notoriously difficult so I shouldn't try to make those and just see how the auction proceeds.

Diamond Earrings at Quibids

That's the featured auction of the week - 1/2 cttw. Diamond Earrings & Pendant Set. This is a good time for the offer, with Valentine's Day approaching. I have always argued that Quibids needs to take leadership in the penny auction sphere, being such a large and influential player. In addition, Quibids is perhaps the only penny auction which can single-handedly change the course of the industry.

This is a good sign - a diamond set is unlikely to attract as many bidders as a Macbook bundle which is usually the norm at Quibids for featured auctions of the week. Even if it isn't Apple products, it is usually some technology related items. A diamond set, however, might produce more passionate and determined bidders.

Even if Quibids doesn't make a killing off this auction, it is still a good thing as it gives bidders a chance to win something substantial without spending a ton of money on bids. Quibids, being as large a penny auction as it is, can afford to take a few losses for the bigger picture - bidder satisfaction. It would be interesting to note what price the auction ends.

Scooter on Quibids Featured Auction of the Week!

I have previously written how Quibids can get boring with Featured Auctions and have the same product again and again. Well, this week there is a refreshing change: A Scooter!

Now though not everyone would like to own a scooter, it is a nice change and brings some excitement. A scooter auction had already taken place at Quibids that ended just yesterday at $83.97

This particular scooter is priced higher at $2400. You can check out the Scooter Auction at Quibids here.

Quibids is Fascinated with Apple Products!

So once again, the featured auction of the week at Quibids is a bundle of Apple products. This is becoming routine now.

Quibids is the largest penny auction in the US and it has a very good cushion of cash to absorb losses. I would like Quibids to be more risk-taking and adventurous in this regard and at least for the featured auctions of the week, it should try to include something more fun and exciting. There were some great auctions in the past - holiday packages, vacation tours, cruise trips, a car, to name a few. However, of late, I don't see any of these exciting products on Quibids and it is fast losing its sheen.

Quibids should realize that it is big now, that doesn't mean it can be lax. A lot of smaller nimbler penny auctions out there are innovating more than Quibids and offering great deals to their bidders (e.g. HappyBidDay) Quibids needs to be careful if it wants to retain its position as the superior penny auction. Already, many are looking for alternatives to Quibids because the smaller, lesser known penny auctions are less competitive and can offer better deals.

Quibids Featured Auction: Photography Set

This week's Quibids featured auction is a complete photography kit from Canon. I think it is a good product to have if you are interested in photography. The retail price is put at $2700 at Quibids.

The auction is about a day away but still over 500 bids have been placed! This is not a very good strategy and if you see the people who have placed the bids, they are all beginners with no wins. If you do not understand the penny auction model, it is very important to know about Quibids strategies and everything else because otherwise you can lose a lot of money. Quibids does make a lot of profit on the featured auctions as they are very competitive with tens of thousand of bids being placed.

Be sure to read the Quibids strategies and tips on getting free Quibids bids. In addition, also read my full Quibids Review so you know what you are getting yourself into, especially if you are new to Quibids.

Quibids MacBook Pro Bundle Sells for $535.40

The Quibids Featured Auction of the Week was again a Quibids MacBook Pro Bundle, priced at about $4000. The final price for the ending auction was $535.40. Congratulations to the winner, banyquis!
You can find the Auction here.

The winning bid was placed by a BidoMatic. This is not always the case with Quibids mainly because it limits its automatic bidding tool usage, quite unlike penny auctions like BidRivals where almost every auction is won by automatic bidding tools only.

So what were the economics of Quibids auction for MacBook Pro? Here is a small calculation:

Cost Price of the Bundle= $3935.95
No. of Bids Placed: $535.40/$0.01 = 53,540
Selling Price of the Bundle = $535.40
Total cost of bids placed = 53540x$0.60 = $32,124
Quibids Profit = $32124 + $535.40 - $3935.95 = 28,723.45

Total Quibids profit for MacBook Pro Bundle is $28,723.45! That sure is a significant amount. However, the winner got this for a 79% discount and had to place 461 bids to win the auction.

Quibids Disney World Vacation Package

This week, the Quibids Featured auction of the week was Quibids Disney World Vacation Package for 4! Quibids is increasingly auctioning these trips. Earlier, it had an auction for NCAA matches.

This time, Quibids has a trip for 4. The auction has ended and you can find it here. The auction ended for $199.43 and congratulations to the winner, weezie4411.
The whole package is priced at $4,000. The package includes: (from the Quibids site)

* Roundtrip airfare to Orlando, FL; depart anytime between April 1 through December 31, 2011
* Includes a 5 day, 4 night stay with one (1) standard room at Disney's All-Star Music Resort
* Ground transportation from airport to resort and resort to airport on Disney's Magical Express
* Tickets to one theme park per day including Typhoon Lagoon and Blizard Beach Water Parks
* Vacation Insurance

One interesting thing about the auction is that the winner was bidding singly and not using a BidoMatic. Usually for such high-end items, you will find many people using BidoMatic to win the auctions as they can go on forever. This auction went on for over 12 hours - I am not sure of the exact time though. You can find my Tips to Beat BidoMatic to know more.

Quibids takes you to NCAA

The Quibids featured auction of the week for this week is a trip to NCAA semifinals and champions game for 2! You can find the auction on Quibids.

The package also includes:
Round trip airfare departing from any major city to Houston
3 night stay in a hotel close the Reliant Stadium in Houston

The package is valued at $3500, which I assume is just an approximation of the total price. Quibids makes good money through featured auctions of the week and this should be no exception. I am sure there will be some fierce competition for this auction as well.

If you wish to participate in this auction, don't forget to check out my Quibids Strategies that will help you win this auction. Specifically, you should know about how to win through Quibids Strategy Waiting Game as it can be very useful to help save you money in this big auction while also giving you a good chance at winning.

Quibids Australian Vacation for Two Winner

The Quibids featured auction of the week for Australian Vacation for Two has ended. Congratulations to the winner IAmThirsty! The winner is from Gainsville Florida and has never won before at Quibids. I am sure he'll remember this win for a long time to come. It makes sense to invest heavily in Quibids when you really want to win the product.

The final price for the auction was $218.70. A total of 21870 bids were placed, bringing in a revenue of $13,122 for Quibids. This of course is much more than the cost of the package, priced at $6,000.

If you want to win these high-priced items, you may want to read my Quibids Strategy to win Big-Ticket items. Also keep yourself updated about the latest Quibids and penny auctions news by following this blog.

Australian Vacation at Quibids

An Australian Vacation for 2 is the Featured Auction of the Week at Quibids this time around. The value is shown to be $6,000! This exceeds the $4,000 Macbook products that were auctioned a couple of weeks ago.

Quibids loves big ticket items as it brings in much higher profits though sometimes they do carry a risk. However, Quibids has grown so much over the months that the risk is usually very small - these items bring in much much more revenue for Quibids than they are worth, so Quibids does make a good profit.

If you are bidding on this auction, don't forget to learn about my Quibids strategies before jumping in. Good luck!

Intense Battle for Quibids Apple MacBook Bundle

If you don't already know, Quibids has the featured auction for the week as the $4000 Apple Macbook Bundle. The auction is live at Quibids.

At the time of writing this post, the auction/battle has already been raging for over 24 hours! I am sure none of the original bidders is still active. It would be interesting to see how many bids the product gets finally. Right now, the price is about $325, which makes a cumulative of 32,500 bids placed. I am wondering if the auction will touch the magic number of $1000 or 100,000 bids placed. That would mean a bonus for everyone at Quibids, including of course their CEO Matt Beckham!

As I wrote in my previous post, it is highly unlikely that many bidders will like to shell out $4000 to buy the whole package at its full retail, so all the profits are for Quibids' keeping.

The battle is raging on with hundreds of bidomatic and single bids. I'll update on this auction more as it is really quite interesting to watch. For the record, I am not participating in this auction, just observing.

If you are participating in this auction, do me a favor and drop in a line about your experience! Even if you are not participating, I would love to hear your thoughts on this mega battle. Is it more interesting than the Superbowl? Perhaps the auction will end around that time!
